FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

List of 3 frequently asked questions.

  • Q. How is St. Thomas funded as an independent school?

Tuition provides the largest portion of the operating budget of the school. Other support is derived from tax-deductible contributions, such as gifts to the Annual Fund, and special fundraising events, such as the Gala. St. Thomas does not receive public funding from local, state, or federal governments, the Episcopal Diocese of Southeast Florida, or the Episcopal Church, USA.  We rely on the philanthropic support and generosity of our community.
  • Q. Why should I make a gift?

Every gift matters and has an impact on our School. Your support of Annual Giving conveys the powerful message that you believe in St. Thomas’s mission of empowering our students. Whether you are a parent, alumnus, faculty or staff member, grandparent, or friend, your contribution of any amount is invaluable. All contributions are recognized each year in the St. Thomas Episcopal Parish School Report.
  • Q. How much should I give?

Gifts of all sizes are important, welcome, and greatly appreciated. Each contribution to Annual Giving makes a measurable difference in the lives of our students and professional community. If you would like to have a conversation about your gift, contact our Chief Philanthropy Officer, Quentin M. Derryberry, III, at qderryberry@stepsmia.org or 786-268-3496.
