Dance

“Every day brings a chance for you to draw in a breath, kick off your shoes, and dance.”

Dance at St. Thomas

Dance is fun and educational and at St. Thomas, it enhances our philosophy and mission. It expands a child’s imagination and enables the child to express his/her emotions through dance. Dance class helps build confidence and develops body awareness.  The dance program develops gross motor skills, coordination, spatial awareness, listening skills and rhythmic awareness.

The educational values of listening and sequencing are also important factors in the dance program.  There is a wide opportunity for impressions and expressions.  Dance class contributes to the development of body agility, flexibility, balance, coordination, strength, and self-control.

Dance classes at St. Thomas are a pleasure for all of the physical, emotional and educational benefits.  Dance and movement are a child’s natural expression of joy.  To channel these moments into constructive avenues while widening their imagination and letting them grow physically and artistically without losing spontaneity is the essence of our dance program.
