STEPS PA Committees

  • Auction and Dinner Dance

    This committee plans and organizes this major social and fundraising event for the school.  The event takes place in the Spring and requires volunteers in the following Sub-Committees:
    • Auction Acquisitions (2 Co-Chairs needed)
    • Raffle
    • Children’s Art
    • Decorations
    • Program Advertising
    • Dinner / Dance
  • Book Fair

    This committee organizes and sets up the school’s Book Fair and schedules volunteers to assist children in their selection of books as well as compile all orders received. 
  • By Laws

    This committee studies the By-Laws of the Parents’ Association, interprets them to the membership base, and presents proposed amendments as necessary.
  • Carnival

    This committee plans and organizes the annual school Carnival that takes place in October.  These volunteers orchestrate this with the homeroom coordinators, as well as the Carnival Mom and Dad from each class.  The purpose of the Carnival is to provide a fun filled day for our children and school families.  Four Co-Chairs are needed.
  • Field Day

    Grades 1-5  – This committee organizes a fun-filled events under the direction of the P.E. Coaches.  The children participate in a variety of track and field events and the parents assist in scorekeeping, timing and refreshments.
  • Golf Tournament

    This committee plans and executes a Golf Tournament as a fundraiser for the school.  Volunteers help coordinate all the logistics for the event as well as organize the Post Tournament Reception.  The proceeds of the Golf Tournament benefit STEPS Financial Aid.
  • Great Art

    This committee works closely with the Art faculty to coordinate a program of creative art education featuring famous artists.
  • Helping Hands

    This committee recruits volunteers for specific school events as needed throughout the year.
  • Hospitality

    This committee provides refreshments, food, and decorations for designated school events.  In addition, this committee is responsible for organizing the “Welcome Coffees” for each grade level at the start of the school year.  Four Co-Chairs are needed.
  • Mentor Coordinator

    This committee matches incoming school families with existing school families, ideally by grade, to ensure that the incoming school family is made welcome and has someone to contact prior to the commencement of and during the school year to answer questions and assist with general information requests.  The mentors are responsible for meeting with their incoming school family during the summer and for being generally available as needed throughout the school year.
  • Outreach

    This committee works directly with Father Mario Milián and the church’s Outreach committee to coordinate various community outreach programs such as food drives, Holiday toy drive, and much more.
  • Parent University

    This committee organizes interesting, motivating, and informative lectures for our parent community.  They are responsible for selecting the topics and for securing a subject matter expert that can present and discuss the selected topic to the parents.
  • Red Ribbon Week

    This committee hosts an education program against drugs and substance abuse, and strives to heighten awareness during a designated week in October.
  • Spirit Day

    Pre K – K – This committee organizes a fun-filled events under the direction of the P.E. Coaches.  The children participate in a variety of track and field events and the parents assist in scorekeeping, timing and refreshments.
     
  • Sunshine

    This committee addresses specific occasions affecting members of the St. Thomas community such as new babies, illness, etc.  The committee is responsible for sending flowers, cards, etc.
     
  • Teacher Appreciation

    This committee provides luncheons in appreciation of the faculty and staff, as well as light breakfast and other services during Teacher Appreciation Week.  Two Co-Chairs needed.
  • Tennis Tournament

    This committee plans and executes a Tennis Tournament as a fundraiser for the school.  Volunteers help coordinate all the logistics for the event as well as organize the Post Tournament Reception.  The proceeds of the Tennis Tournament benefit STEPS Financial Aid.
     
  • Wonderful Wednesday

    This committee organizes a schedule of parents who volunteer to host coffee and light fair on Wednesday mornings (also known as Wonderful Wednesday) in the courtyard, for all parents who want to get together.  The Chair of the committee needs to make sure that we get volunteers for every Wednesday in the calendar.
